Tattoo Aftercare

Keep bandage on for one to two hours. WASH YOUR HANDS, and carefully remove bandage. Use lukewarm soapy water to clean your tattoo. (just use your hands to wash and rinse the tattoo) pat dry.

First two days of new tattoo keep the tattoo dry. After two days pass, use an ointment such as Tat Wax on your tattoo every three or four hours for the next four to five days, and only pat dry. Apply only a thin layer so that the tattoo stay as looking shiny and never dry. DO NOT apply thickly or you will clog your pores and cause color to pull out. NEVER EVER use petroleum based ointments such as neosporin, Polysporin, Vaseline. These are too strong and will cause your tattoo to fade

After four days, or when the tattoo starts to peel, DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH!!! This is a huge deal, scratching will cause scaring.

During the healing process, do not swim in chlorinated pools, lake water or hot tubs, or expose your tattoo to the sun. Afterwards, always make sure you apply sunscreen to your tattoo when outdoors to prevent fading

After about two weeks of this treatment your tattoo should be healed.

Please feel free to stop by or call the shop if you have any questions of concerns about your new tattoo. And DO NOT ask your friends for advice, they are NOT in the industry or considered professionals therefore should not be giving advice. If there is a problem or question we are here for you.

Piercing Aftercare

 Piercing Cleaning Solution

Antibacterial Soap - Dial Lever 2000
or other with no perfume or dye

Piercing Soak Solution
¼ tsp Sea Salt to 1 Cup Warm Water

Suggestions on how to care for your piercing

WASH hands thoroughly with anti-bacterial soap. CLEAN your piercing at least twice a day with Piercing Cleaning Solution. Your body secretes plasma while
healing - the plasma dries and becomes crusty. If your jewelry seems stuck and will not move, DO NOT FORCE IT. Pulling dried discharge into a piercing is quite painful and lengthens the healing process. Remove dried discharge by taking a shower or by using a cotton swab in warm salt water (¼ tsp. sea salt to 1 cup warm water).

APPLY a liberal amount of Piercing Cleaning Solution to the piercing and its surrounding area with a cotton swab. Rotate the jewelry 5-7 times to remove the solution from the inside of the piercing.

Carefully RINSE the piercing under running water (a shower). Rotate the jewelry 5-7 times to remove the solution from the inside of the piercing. Solution left inside the piercing can cause irritation.

Pat dry with a clean paper towel.

Use a mild salt water solution (¼ tsp. sea salt to 1 cup warm water) once a day in addition to regular cleanings to help with healing. Soak the piercing for 10-15 minutes, then rinse and pat dry with a paper towel. Do not rotate the jewelry with salt-water solution - only rotate when you are cleaning.

ENJOY your piercing! If you have any questions of problems feel free to contact us. THANK YOU!!

*NOTE - AVOID using rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide to clean your piercing - in many cases, they are detrimental to the healing process! Also, AVOID using any sort of ointment or oil on the piercing. They will prevent air from flowing through the piercing which can promote infection.

**FOLLOWING THE SUGGESTIONS MAY NOT NECESSARILY ENSURE THAT YOUR PIERCING WILL HEAL CORRECTLY. THE BODY IS A COMPLEX ORGANISM - EACH PERSON REACTS DIFFERENTLY. IF YOU ARE AT ALL CONCERED ABOUT YOUR PIERCING, CALL US OR STOP BY. MEDICAL ATTENTION MAY BE NECESSARY IN SOME CASES.

DO NOT remove the jewelry during the ENTIRE healing period.*

Cartilage ~ 3-6 Months            Navel ~ 4-6 Months
Ear ~ 2-3 Months                    Nipple ~ 6-12 Months
Eyebrow ~ 2-3 Months            Nose ~ 2-3 Months
Lip ~ 2-3 Months                    Septum ~ 3 Months
Labret ~ 2-3 Months               Tongue ~ 2-3 Months

*These Healing periods are approximate. Also, it generally takes about a year to completely toughen up and heal.

Avoid ALL CONTACT of your piercing with saliva, blood, semen, and other bodily fluid for AT LEAST the first eight weeks. Your new piercing is extremely susceptible to infection, especially when exposed to these items. Caution and common sense are extremely beneficial.

Clean bedding as necessary, change sheets and pillowcases (if applicable) often.

After washing hands with antibacterial soap, apply Bactene, and rotate jewlery, then pat dry. Also check threaded jewelry twice a day to make sure it is secure after washing hands with antibacterial soap.

Some people have found that the healing process was accelerated by taking a multi vitamin or mineral supplement containing zinc and vitamin C (50mg with food once a day).

For navel piercings, tight fitting cloths are strongly discouraged. Everyday bending, lifting sitting, et irritate the piercing - this irritation is compounded when tight jeans and belts are worn. Irritation can lead to migration or rejection. Also, if you are physically active (exercising etc.) place a cotton ball (as much s will fit) inside jewelry at those times.
